Brigitte Heitland was born in the Black Forest of Germany. She loved to watch her grandmother sewing clothing. True to her word, her grandmother taught her to sew 'once her feet could reach the pedal', which was at age 6. She fell in love with creating and chose to study Interior Design in college, but she soon changed to Textile Design. She just loved the needle and thread! It wasn't until years later, though, that she ran across a quilting book. She was soon hooked on all things quilting, and designing her own fabrics followed.
"When developing a fabric or even a design for a quilt the entire impression of a room comes to my mind. I see the light, the furniture, the color concept, the style and my quilt is a natural element of this scene, fitting in harmoniously. I like clarity in a room, an environment of simplicity where you are surrounded by only the things you really need and love, where you can relax, find your inner peace and balance. So my quilts are kind of this reduced, pure and clear style. They show as much color to give your eye a juicy catcher and as less patterns to let it rest there for a while."
